This evening, crews were recognized by Southen Alleghenies EMS Council for their quick response and life saving efforts. In the early morning hours on July 24th 2025, crews responded to a newborn in critical distress. The infant was pulseless and unresponsive and the situation was truly dire. Thanks to the quick, coordinated actions of the responders on scene and during transport, the baby began to show signs of improvement. First pulses then spontaneous respirations, and eventually purposeful responses.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the infant had a pulse, was breathing and was responding to stimulation. Even more importantly, the baby has since fully recovered.
Tonight we honored the providers who's dedication and teamwork made this outcome possible. Their commitment and professionalism made all the difference. We thank them for their incredible work.
